Budleigh Salterton
Nestled on the World Heritage Coast, Budleigh Salterton has a beautiful, unspoilt pebble beach full of old fashioned charm. This pretty, sheltered beach is ideal for swimming and fishing, and the perfect spot to enjoy a family barbeque or try the local fish & chips. At the base of the River Otter, you can enjoy charming river walks to the village of Otterton. In Budleigh Salterton there are a number of small shops, restaurants, pubs, traditional tea rooms and a very popular ice cream parlour, as well as a Tourist Information Centre and quaint thatched museum.
Otterton
The pretty village of Otterton is lined with thatched cottages. Otterton Mill is a must see with a fantastic bakery, café, artist studios and popular live music evenings. It is also an ideal meeting point for the walk along the River Otter to the sea at Budleigh Salterton.
East Budleigh
East Budleigh is situated approximately 1 ½ miles from the sea at Budleigh Salterton. Just outside the village, is Hayes Barton, the birth place of Sir Walter Raleigh. This picturesque village is perfectly situated to enjoy country walks to Otterton and Budleigh Salterton.
Sidmouth
Regency Sidmouth is an attractive seaside resort with more than 500 listed buildings. Highly fashionable in the 1800’s, this sheltered pebble beach nestled between imposing red cliffs, retains its charm and is still popular with families today. Sidmouth has a good selection of shops and restaurants as well as a theatre, cinema and hosts open-air concerts in the summer.
Branscombe & Beer
The National Trust village of Branscombe is packed full of attractive thatched buildings including a couple of excellent pubs and a pretty walk to the beach. From here a popular coastal walk takes you to the fishing village and sheltered beach at Beer - where you can enjoy the local catch (or an ice-cream) - from the comfort of an old fashioned deckchair.
Honiton
Nestled in the Blackdown Hills, this market town is famous for lace-making and pottery. Honiton has a reputation as an antique centre and is a haven for antique hunters, with over 30 shops and auction rooms to explore.
Exmouth
Exmouth has two miles of golden sand for all to enjoy and water that is ideal for swimming, windsurfing, kite surfing and water-skiing. The promenade is enjoyed by joggers, runners and cyclists throughout the year, and offers all the delights of a traditional beach holiday.
Topsham
This pretty historic estuary port is full of interesting architecture, where Dutch traders houses sit alongside Edwardian and Georgian buildings. Topsham has a good selection of pubs and restaurants, as well as a collection of independent shops. Just outside Topsham you will find Darts Farm shopping village with a fantastic food hall stocked with regional produce. For the more active there is sailing and an open air swimming pool.
Exeter
This thriving regional capital has a history spanning more than 2,000 years. Once a bustling post for the wool trade, today Exeter is a cultural and commercial centre, with plenty of quality shops and restaurants to enjoy. Visitors will enjoy Exeter Cathedral - one of the finest examples of late medieval architecture in Britain, and the historic quayside where you can walk or cycle along the River Exe and Exeter Canal.
